The most beautiful black and white flower!

1898

After completing her high school in De Dion Trusses, Eva joined St John Berchmans College in Brussels, Belgium. She was a very intelligent and a beautiful girl. She was attracted to many boys in the college but Louis was the one to take the move with Eva, though both were studying in different majors. Both of them were in the boarding college since they came from different cities of Belgium.

In one lunch break, Louis told Eva that her desk had lot of ants. When Eva asked the reason, Louis said ants were swarming the table since the book that was kept in her desk table had the name ‘Eva” on the cover. She smiled and said “Thanks”. Many sweet encounters followed liked that. Once Louis told Eva that he slipped at the entrance of the college gate and Eva asked “Why did you slip?” Louis replied, “Your hairs are like Niagara Falls and the waterfall made me to slip”. Louis admired Eva’s beauty and became like the romantic English poet Shelley.

Oneday, Louis asked Eva that if she could find the answer to his question, “I can take you to Chez Leon in the city for a dinner”. Eva was interested to get his question. The question was, “Find out the most beautiful black and white flower in the world and find the name of it”. Louis gave Eva 24 hrs time. Eva went to the college library, asked her friends and no one could tell her the answer. Next day Eva met Louis and said that she had failed to get the answer and said there is no such black and white flower in this world and it is just imaginary. Louis smiled and said, “Eva, go to the mirror and look out at your eyes. It is the most beautiful black and white flower in the world”. Eva felt very happy and always said “Thank you” and did not express any word to him about Love.

Both loved each other but they did not express to each other by words to confirm that they are in love. Their eyes mostly glanced each other at least once a day in the college campus. 2 years went on like that. It was the last day of the college followed by the farewell after which they have to part each other. Louis had fears to express, so he wrote “Saranghae” in a piece of paper and handed over to her. “Saranghae” means “I Love you” in Korean language. Next day was the farewell. Louis could not sleep that night since he was anticipating for a positive answer. The whole college was in the farewell. Eva gave a dark chocolate to Louis when they were lighting the candle. Louis immediately unwrapped the dark chocolate and inside the wrap it was written “Me too” in the same piece of paper Louis had given the day before. Louis was so happy that Eva accepted his proposal. After the farewell, Eva took Louis to the Magnolia tree and spoke for hours before they headed towards their cities that night. They decided to marry after few years.

After completing the college degree, Louis joined the Belgian armed forces as a soldier and Eva could not continue her further studies and stayed at home. On Valentine’s Day of 1910 they got married in the church. Soon, they got a son and they named him as Arthur. 4 years later, the first battle of the First World War broke between Belgium and Germany in August 1914 and it was the battle of Liege.

Louis went to save his country in the war to prevent the German invasion and Eva got a letter oneday from the armed forces that Louis did not return to the army camp and would have died in the battle field. They could not recover his body in the ambush since there was more causalities in the Belgian army in the battle and many bodies were found beyond identification. It was a sad twist in her life. She was now left alone with her son Arthur and the country gave her the Medal of Honor for the Louis’s service and contribution to the nation. The Medal of Honor could not help to serve her daily bread. The country was badly hit by the war. Eva personally felt the medal would not serve any purpose since life is more important than memorials or medals.

War should not happen at the first place between humans! Why to fight for a piece of land, when at the end everyone goes into the earth not taking any possessions!

Poverty struck the country due to the war. Eva had to feed two souls. Eve wore clothes for her sin but this Eva had to remove her clothes for the sins of the countries. Eva had to sell herself for a living.

One evening one customer named Noah came to her house. On looking at her son Arthur and his torn shirt, he felt very bad for Eva. Looking beyond the undressed Eva, Noah could see the struggles of her. Noah asked the same night ‘Will you marry me? and I can take care of you and your son?” Everyone saw her beautiful skin but here was a Man who could see her beautiful heart. Eva told Noah that, “I cannot marry you since I was married and lost my husband, but I can live with you”. It was an ordinary night for others but it was a special night for Eva since her life changed afterwards. She got an understanding partner again in life. She left the profession and she lived with him. Noah was a good cook and most of the days, he cooked food for Eva and Arthur.

Seasons went on and their lives were so happy until one night, when the house door of Eva was knocked and it was knocked by Louis!!!!
