One of the beautiful lady in the world

In school days, I was fascinated to know about this beautiful lady in the world. Did not ever thought that fascination would become a reality oneday! It was a long weekend in US due to the Independence Day on July 4^th, so planned a trip to meet her.

Took a taxi to Palm Beach international airport, Florida US. Usually I have a habit to start a conversation during the trip to know about them. I usually throw an open end question to start with and allow them to speak and silently listen to what they say. Everyone in this world has a story to tell about them. This world is built with beautiful such stories. If we patiently listen, few share their stories and few don’t open up within a short time. He was a Caribbean settled in Florida. He had come to USA for his girlfriend but now the girl friend had become his ex. I see many being single or divorced in this country. There might be many factors for this. He was fascinated by the diverse language, culture, food in India and has plans to visit India. He appreciated the hard working nature of Indians. Was nice to hear the positive sides of my country.

Flew from Palm Beach international airport to Philadelphia airport and then to Buffalo international airport. Difference in temperature could be witnessed when moved towards the northern hemisphere of the world.

Next day morning, after taking a hot shower, started walking in the drizzling rain to see the beautiful lady. As I was going near her, the sound was deafening and when I looked her, she was amazing and very beautiful & most seen lady in the world. She was absolutely stunning. I couldn’t take my eyes from her!

She is Niagara, the flowing beauty in the northern hemisphere and shared by two countries- the United States of America and Canada.

She was roaring, dancing like a beautiful lady letting her hairs free.

Niagara Falls is located on the border between Canada and the United States of America.  Niagara is comprised of three separate falls which include:

American Falls & Bridal Veil Falls

Horse shoe falls

The elevator on Goat Island in the US side goes to the dock for touring the waterways on the Maid of the Mist. This boat took us into the river and base of the falls gave a spectacular view of the falls. The powerful flow of the falls made wet and not just wet, soaked. Was astonished to see the continuous huge flow of water. Niagara means “a thundering noise” comes from the word “onguiaahra. It is nicknamed as “Honeymoon Capital of the World”.

Was wondering to know the source of this water which flows continuously. It is believed that Niagara became free of the ice about 12,500 years ago. The water flows from streams and rivers that empty into the Great Lakes, from Lake Superior down through Niagara to Lake Ontario, then into the St. Lawrence River to the Atlantic Ocean. All the water always flows down to the sea, but the Niagara River actually flows north.

I was curious to know why the names of rivers are always kept after women. Rightly, they are named after women because they are source of life in this Earth. Without women, there is no life in this earth. Equally surprising are the names of cyclones kept after women. Again, when she gets angry, no one can stop.

While the water of Niagara contributes 18% of world’s fresh water supply, back in my country there are cities deprived of water. In childhood, could wait till midnight to collect one pot of drinking water. A token will be given to each house and we would wait for the tanker lorry to collect that one pot of water for drinking. There are many villages in India still not having water for drinking and women walk miles to get drinking water.  One part of the world, water is flowing continuously without any stoppage and in the other part of the world, there is always a struggle for water.

The world is witnessing the truth that rivers are getting dried everywhere. Water from rivers goes to sea and back from sea to rivers is the cycle. Nature’s cycle is broken by Humans and the price is paid for it. Trees are cut. Dams are built but they lead to earthquake due to the disturbance of the tectonic plates beneath the earth’s crust. Even in US, there are states where the rivers are getting dried and water shortages observed in California State now. Geologists are warning that the earth’s rotation and the movement of earth is affected due to the depletion of ground water in lands due to imbalance. So a disaster for water is waiting to happen globally for our grand grand children! What are we going to leave them?? Of course Mankind has lot of developments over the evolution but it is better to leave nature as it is and not to play with it!!!

After seeing Niagara, retired to the hotel room in night and started back to Niagara international airport by Taxi. It was 4am, the lady driving the taxi was literally tired of driving since she was driving all through the night. She was driving through the fog of Buffalo, the city which witnessed the worst snowfall in the beginning of this year killing many people. Due to bad weather, the flight from Newark to Fort Lauderdale was delayed over 2 hours and when it started there was lot of disturbances after take-off and a young American girl got so frightened in the flight and the airhostess was pacifying her.  

Back to the nest with memories loaded. Travel is one of the best stress buster, one can meet new people, places and relax a lot.
